Anyone who walks down Dawson Street with any regularity will have noticed the ongoing drama that’s been happening with Carluccio’s lately. I went past it on Friday, only to find it closed with notices stuck to the doors saying that due to rent problems with their landlords they were effectively closed from 2nd February onwards, pending a final review. I spent the weekend in mourning (their hot chocolates are mesmerisingly good) only to go past it again today, to see a group of people sitting around a table in the brightly lit though still closed-to-the-public restaurant, having an earnest discussion. It looked as if something was happening. The notices on the door were different to the ones on Friday too – apparently they’re going to reopen shortly! Let’s hope that this actually happens and isn’t just another cruel twist in the Carluccio’s saga.
