We’re completely in awe of the amazing graffiti at the Bernard Shaw, so we’re really looking forward to seeing the graffiti competition between Dublin and Copenhagen in the Euro League battle this Friday. It’s starting at 8pm and should be a deadly evening – just have a look at the above photo of the last Secret Wars event which we nicked off the Secret Wars Dublin blog. The Irish team includes Danleo, Mick Minogue, Cisto, Redmonk and Grim, so show some street-art patriotism and get down to the Shaw on Friday.

February 18, 2010‘Coffee, Cakes and Country Air’ @ The Bad Art Gallery
January 29, 2010
Inky Wrists went (armed with cameras) to The Bad Art Gallery on Francis Street to check out the latest exhibition by Deborah Donnelly; ‘Coffee, Cakes and Country Air’. The exhibition was opened by Irish actress Brenda Fricker (Milk, Inside I’m Dancing and Veronica Guerin to name just a few films she has been in). We were blown away in particular by the more abstract landscapes, a departure from the usual cows, and fell in love with more than one. Check out The Bad Art Website for more information and don’t forget to subscribe to our youtube channel.
James Castle at The Douglas Hyde
January 16, 2010A retrospect of the elusive James Castle (1899-1977). This American artist had a strange upbringing, with no education and unable to hear, write, read or sign, his work became the foremost way for him to communicate to the world. His pieces are intense and naive, and very much show Castle’s insular world to us. Using found paper, soot and rough colour, Castle created handmade books, paintings , paper constructions and drawings. This intimate and sensitive exhibition is one worth seeing. Runs til 20th January at the Douglas Hyde Gallery in Trinity College.

The Bad Art Gallery Christmas Show
December 5, 2009Like mulled wine and mince pies? Inky Wrists loves nothing better, chuck The Bad Art Gallery into the equation also and we are very happy bloggers. The Bad Art Gallery has come up with a great Christmas Show, all art is under €500 and 8×10 inches in size. This gives any one looking to start an art collection a great opportunity to pick up popular artist’s work at a more affordable price. Our faves include; Deborah Donnelly’s landscapes (I adore her landscape work so so so much, check it out if you have time), Lucy Doyle’s (aka our mother) man heads, and Anna Allworthy’s textural city scapes.
